Tracks to Nowhere

I fake a smile and wave as you board the train
'Cause at the back of my mind, I've been dreading this day
I guess I've always known, some people go, some people stay
Now I'm standing on the platform, and you're so far away

Oooh,
Train, train, travelling,
I try not to cry
Train, train, travelling,
I thought you were mine
Train, train, endless tracks,
Where do they go?
Train, train, travelling,
Nobody knows...

I take a moment and turn to walk away
A little voice in my mind, says don't you wish she'd stayed
But I block it out and keep on walking, the lonely road home
I thought I knew, but I don't know, oh oh oh

Oooh, ooh
Train, train, travelling,
Further from me
Train, train, travelling,
I'm trying to breathe
Train, train, endless seats,
I sit here alone
Train, train, all I want
Is to go home

Train, train
Keep on going
Train, train
I hate not knowing
Train, train
Oooh, oooh

Some people go,
Some people stay
Sometimes we love,
Sometimes we hate
People are so complicated
This endless change is so frustrating
Why can't it just all stay the same?

I just thought you'd be the one who stayed
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry,
I didn't know
I fake a smile and pretend that I'm okay
'Cause at the back of my mind, I've been waiting for this day
I guess we've always known, most people go, and you can't stay
Now I'm standing on the platform
Watching you fade away

Shouldn't Feel the Way I Do

Why am I lying awake
But dreaming about you?
Why am I whispering your name
And wondering how I ever lived without you?

I shouldn't watch your every move
I shouldn't stutter when I talk to you
I shouldn't hide in the corner of the room
I shouldn't feel the way I do about you.

Sometimes at night
When the moon shines through my window
I see that light,
And I wonder, out there do you know?
That I can't sleep
Because your name is flying through my mind
And I keep
Silently, secretly crying
'Cause I hate myself for thinking these thoughts about you

I shouldn't watch your every move
I shouldn't stutter when I talk to you
I shouldn't hide in the corner of the room
I shouldn't feel the way I do about you

Wish I didn't feel this way
Wish I could love without being afraid
I wish, I wish, I wish,
You could see this
Don't you see
What you do to me
What you do to me

I shouldn't sit here, looking at the moon
I shouldn't hope you're looking at it too
I shouldn't spend every day trying to hide the truth
I shouldn't feel the way I do

The way I do...

Love

I've fallen in love too many times
To do it once more
I can't give my heart away
The way I did before
Before

Love hurts, love burns,
Why do it all again?
Lives change, hope fades
'til you're left alone in the rain

So please don't ask me
To give what I can't give
I don't think I could bear you being
Just another name on the list

Love hurts, love burns,
Why do it all again?
Lives change, hope fades
'til you're left alone in the rain

My heart's closed behind a million locked doors
No, you can't get to me
There's no-one I'd undo those chains for
So how did you get the key?

Love hurts, love burns,
But this time, it might be worth it
Hope fades, but it comes again,
God knows, we both deserve it

I've fallen in love so many times
But I think this could be the last
I'm giving you my heart today
The past is in the past...

Beautiful Days

Snow’s starting to fall outside
I’ve forgotten to wrap up warm, I’m perched up high
Sitting at the top of an old climbing frame
Reading my book while the bigger kids play

I’m too scared to go over and say hello
I made that mistake before, many years ago
So now I keep my distance, it’s better this way
And while they laugh and talk together, I turn a page

There were beautiful days
But on my own it didn’t seem so fine
I thought I was okay
Now I see there’s much more to life
Than being so scared of landing,
That I never tried to fall
So many beautiful days,
And I lost them all

Days fall like the autumn leaves tumble to the ground
I wish I could’ve told myself, the things I know now
Summer means sunlight, but I’m sitting in a shadow
I swear that I’m fine, so no-one can know
That I’d wouldn’t sit here alone, if there was any other way
But no-one wants to play with me, so I’ll waste another beautiful day…

There were beautiful days
But on my own it didn’t seem so fine
I thought I was okay
Now I see there’s much more to life
Than being so scared of landing,
That I never tried to fall
So many beautiful days,
And I lost them all

I’ve never been the kind of girl
Who wallows in regret
But something about those beautiful days
I just can’t forget

There were beautiful days…
I saw them fall away…
Falling, falling, falling away
Mmm, mmm
Those beautiful days

I’m walking down the hallway, wishing I could hide
It’s my first day, I’m scared out of my mind
Here, in this new country, for seven more years I'll stay
Now I’m dawdling and fidgeting and eyeing my new classmates

I think of all my fears, all the hurt that I have known
But I think that I’m too tired to spend another day alone
No more keeping my distance, this is a new page
So I take a deep breath, and turn to walk their way…

The rain is pattering down outside
In the window, I see a reflection, of the secrets I have to hide
Yeah, there are grey clouds today
But by tomorrow, the sun’ll wash them all away
It’s gonna be a beautiful day

Mmm…
A beautiful day
All the things I couldn’t say

It’s gonna be the most beautiful day…

Patchwork Quilt

Patch up the pieces
And sew up the holes
Nobody else can ever know,
I’m unravelling

Unravelling
At the seams
Unravelling (I’m unravelling)
Yes, that’s me
Falling to pieces
Falling apart
A small little girl
With a broken heart
Unravelling

Don’t let the pieces scatter
Each thread another blow
And the world’s cold
How can no-one see
The pieces of me
I’ll never regain
My fight was in vain
I’m slowly unravelling…

Unravelling
At the seams
Unravelling (I’m unravelling)
Yes, that’s me
Falling to pieces
Falling apart
A small little girl
With a broken heart
Unravelling

And the me that I’m losing
Is a me that I’ll never get back
Other people see blue skies and sunshine
But my world is black

So I say goodbye and
I run away to hide
Because I’m dying inside
And I can’t, I won’t, tell anyone why,
Why, why, why?

So patch up the pieces and
Sew up the holes
Nobody else can ever know…

Brave

If again our dreams are snatched away
Right in front of my face
If once more,
We lose what we love the most
Do you think we can survive that?
 ‘Cause I don’t.

And it hurts just to breathe
When I lose all dear to me
And there’s nothing I can save.
So I just have to be brave,
Brave
Can’t fall on my face again,
‘Cause too much depends
On whether I can be brave…

I’d rather fight a war,
Than battle anymore
With myself.
Why can’t it be easy?
Why can’t it be simple?
All I want is to love
And to be loved.

Is it too much to ask?
For just one day to pass,
Where I can be happy…
Where I can be free?

And it hurts just to breathe
When I lose all dear to me
And there’s nothing I can save.
So I just have to be brave,
Brave
Can’t fall on my face again,
‘Cause too much depends
On whether I can be brave…

When every minute packs a punch,
And all light has faded away.
When I’m alone,
Scared and confused,
And those I love are far away...
I just have to be brave
Find the courage it takes to stay,
To face the new dawn,
And the next day.

So much could happen,
Who knows what will go your way?
If you just be brave…

Sound of Your Heartbeat

Please, please, please,
Don’t die on me
Please keep breathing
I hear your heart
Please keep beating

Maybe this is selfish,
I know it’s best if you don’t stay
But I don’t want to lose you again

It’s you who needs
Help to breathe
And machines to keep you living
But the world’s so cold
And life’s so cruel,
All I’ve ever known is you and me
But now there’s just the sound of your heartbeat…

Listen to my voice,
Let it take us back to happy days,
In a snowy forest,
Somewhere far away
Christmas and snowmen and tall pine trees,
At nine years old, you’re chasing me
Although snow clouds make the sky grey,
There’s enough light in your face
For the whole world
Just a little boy and girl

Maybe this is selfish,
I know it’s best if you don’t stay
But I don’t want to lose you again

It’s you who needs
Help to breathe
And machines to keep you living
But the world’s so cold
And life’s so cruel,
‘Cause all I need to be complete
Is the sound of your heartbeat.

And it’s heart-breaking
To hear your heart beating
And to know you’re getting further away from me
No it’s too soon for you to go,
Please, please no,
This isn’t right.
It’s not your time yet.
Come back, come back,
Why didn’t I realise,
You’re everything I need?
Until there was nothing
But the sound of your heartbeat

Please, please, please,
Don’t die on me,
Please keep breathing.
I love your heart,
Please keep it beating…

Crazy

I watch you through the winter air,

Snow falling thick and white.

You probably don’t even know I’m there,

But I’ve got a secret inside…

When I close my eyes, I see your face,

When I fall asleep, I imagine your gaze

I can’t make myself fall for anyone but you…

They say it’s crazy, crazy, crazy,

For me to fall in love with you.

And it’s crazy, crazy, crazy,

To think you’d love me too…

Have you ever fallen in love,

With someone you’re trying to ignore?

Have you ever fallen, so far,

You can’t see the surface anymore?

Why can’t I stay away?

When I close my eyes, I see your face,

When I fall asleep, I imagine your gaze

I can’t make myself fall for anyone but you…

They say it’s crazy, crazy, crazy,

For me to fall in love with you.

And it’s crazy, crazy, crazy,

To think you’d love me too…

You shine like the stars in the sky,

You’re all that I want but, much as I try,

I know you’ll never feel the same.

But I just want you to say…

That it’s okay, we’ll live another day

And that you’ll love me, for forever and always

But I know that’s crazy, crazy, crazy…

I’ll watch you through the winter air,

Snow falling thick and white.

You probably don’t even know I’m there,

So I’ll keep this secret inside…

So I’ll keep this secret inside…

Darkness Falls

Darkness falls,
Evil calls
Day slipping away
The night is young
Young and strong
We will find a way

To slip into shadow,
Fade into night
All that we had known
Is lost from sight

As darkness falls,
Evil calls
Day slipping away
The night is young
Young and strong
We will find a way

On monsters we’ll ride
We’ll walk on air
And watch the dark tide
Sweep everywhere

As darkness falls,
Evil calls
Day slipping away
The night is young
Young and strong
We will find a way

Suffocating black chills
Creeping up your spine
A snake of shadows that will
Make you lose your mind

As darkness falls,
Evil calls
Day slipping away
The night is young
Young and strong
We will find
Our
Way

The Fall

Maybe I fell
Before you could catch me,
Maybe the night sky
Fell with me.
Maybe my heart broke,
Before my feet slipped,
But I think that it broke before

The fall, the fall

Night, night, night sky
Star, star, starlight
I don’t want to do this alone
Moon, moon, moonlight
Your eyes so bright,
How could you not know?
That when I look, into, your eyes
I’m falling,
The fall, the fall

I thought that we’d stay together,
‘Cause you said that you’d be here forever,
But no, oh…

And maybe I fell,
Before you could catch me.
Maybe the night sky
Fell with me.
Maybe my heart broke,
Before I let go,
When you said that you don’t love me…

Maybe I fell, before you could catch me.

Am I a Fantasy?

If you control me, am I still me?

If I’m in your thoughts, am I a fantasy?

Am I a fantasy?

If the world spun the other way,

Would night come before the day?

I have so many questions,

So little time

But is this time truly mine?

Is it borrowed?

To be returned someday

When is it due back?

At the Time library?

Or is everything a fantasy?

A fantasy is something in your thoughts and dreams,

So if I think of you, you are a fantasy.

If I think of school then it’s a fantasy.

If I think of chocolate it’s a fantasy,

If I think of me, then am I a fantasy?

Am I a fantasy?

Hopes and fantasies,

Thoughts and my dreams

Will wash away

One summer day,

In the summer rain,

I’ll be left again,

With a million queries,

Questions, mysteries,

With no answer,

Or is it an answer, to which I don’t know the question?

Or are the questions and queries,

Plants and trees,

Mammals and birds,

People and words,

Cities and towns,

The sky and ground,

Oceans and seas,

The myriad countries,

Oh, is everything, a fantasy?

Notes:

...

I don't even know.

Waiting For the Dawn

In the darkness,

We're extraordinary

In the light,

We are ordinary

We may fight the monsters

And save the world

But at dawn

We're just another boy and girl.

So we fight back to back

As the sky turns to black

And the monsters come out to play

Dreading the coming of day

In the darkness,

We're extraordinary

In the light,

We are ordinary

We may fight the monsters

And save the world

But at dawn

We're just another boy and girl.

One heart made of two

My life is forever

Linked to you

How can I live

If I take, but do not give?

How can I love

When you are all I can think of?

In the darkness,

We're extraordinary

In the light,

We are ordinary

We may fight the monsters

And save the world

But at dawn

We're just another boy and girl.

The fight was vicious,

The end was sharp

The coming dawn

Breaks my heart

I don't want this to end

I don't want to lose my best friend

But for now, there's nothing we can do

Time has slowed to a crawl

It's just me and you

Waiting for the dawn

Little Bird

A little bird landed on my arm
And ruffled its wings.
Then it opened its beak
And began to sing

If I were a little bird
I would fly away
I’d soar through the sky
Every night and day.

The little bird
Looks up at me
It is everything
That I want to be

If I were a little bird
I would fly away
I’d soar through the sky
Every night and day.

The little bird stretches,
Looks up at me
Spreads its wings,
To fly free

I know that the little bird
Deserves to fly free,
So I hold out my arm,
And watch it leave me

I wish I was a little bird
So I could fly away
And maybe I’ll fly back,

Somehow, someday
